The release of the critically acclaimed debut CD, "Until Now" surely marked a milestone and a promising start to Tima's music career. However, releasing "Until Now" was no easy journey for Tima and her writing partner and producer, Rick McComas. After finishing the recordings, they spent more than a year and a half negotiating their way through a maze of labels, publishing companies and management decisions. Through it all, Tima and Rick knew they had something special with the songs they were recording. Their work combined Tima's emotional singer/sonwriter style with world beat rhythm and jazz underpinnings. The songs yearned to be heard.
Tima's debut cd "Until Now" was finally released on Rick's Indie label, Monasera Records. For a small Indie release, "Until Now" gained a lot of attention generating national radio exposure, rave critical reviews, and was named as one of the Top Independent releases in 2005 by a popular songwriter magazine. The song "Raining" spent several months as one of the most requested songs on one of the top radio stations in the US. With that, Tima began a cross-country tour to promote the record. However, being on a small label with not much in the way of tour support, Tima was not able to tour with her much loved band she had been playing and rehearsing with for more than a year.
Touring as a solo performer was, in some ways enlightening for Tima. She was able to tell more of the story inside the music in this environment, a more intimate up close experience. It also gave her more freedom. It had been more than two years since writing the songs from "Until Now" and Tima was feeling different - she had written new songs by then. So even during her first shows as a solo performer promoting "Until Now", she was performing many of her new songs. It was then she decided to end the tour and go about recording a New CD.
Working with Rick and many of her former band-mates again, Tima set out to make this new record more personal and introspective. She began putting her emotions, frustrations, and desires into these new tracks. What emerged is a collection of songs with poignant elegant sophistication and beautifully organic arrangements entitled "In This Trance".
In every song, Tima delivers her thoughtful lyrics and unique vocal styling in a way only she can. The first single from the record "Forgive Me", is also Tima's first music video and was the #1 most requested song on a popular radio show for several weeks.
Tima is embarking on a worldwide tour starting Summer 2010. She will be joined by her writing partner/musician Rick McComas for an intimate and entertaining show setting. Tima and Rick will be performing a combination of material from both CDs, uniquely arranged especially for this tour. |
